Run Off Fishing Report
Alf Fisher with a 106cm Barra from Kakadu's
East Alligator River
|
With a wet season that was well below average rain fall it is fair to
say that prior to the Run Off
season starting there were a few concerned guides getting around town.
The good news is that whilst the number of Barra caught are down on previous
years on average the fish being caught were of a good size.
With fish averaging around the 75cm mark and plenty of bigger fish also
being caught, guides have shown again that even with less than ideal conditions
they are still able to put clients onto quality fish.
Barra & Jewies
Adam, Nathan & Brett made the trip to Darwin over the Easter long
week end to get in a bit of Barra
fishing and also a day out Reef
Fishing.
The boys had a day out Bluewater/Reef fishing and along with other catches
were more than pleased with a couple of nice Black Jew Fish.
They spent the next three days chasing Barra in Kakadu National Park
with the fish of the trip a magnificent 98cm Barra caught by Nathan.

Run Off 2006
With this years Run Off over it's time to start thinking about Run
Off 2006.
If you have ever thought about fishing the Territory during the Run Off
don't leave it to the last minute.
Guides are always fully booked especially over this period and I have
lost count on the number of enquiries I was unable to find spots for this
year.
Fishing Corroboree Billabong
This dry season favorite is truly a wonderful place, a fishing trip to
this billabong is much more than that. Whilst Corroboree consistently
delivers good fishing, it is also one of the Top Ends most scenic billabongs.
Mixed in with your day chasing Barra, you could expect to see a wide
variety of Water Birds, Sea Eagles, Crocodiles, and maybe even Water Buffalo
and Wild Pigs.
Fishing this scenic lily and pandanus lined billabong is certainly something
every one should experience.
An ideal option for a day tour from Darwin.
