Whats
New
Remote
Cattle Station Barra Fishing.
Whilst
I haven’t had the opportunity to get out there yet,
Jason who runs the fishing tours has certainly grabbed my
attention in what this cattle station has to offer in the
way of fresh water Barra Fishing.
I
hope to be able to report first hand on this new and different
Top End fishing experience in the near future.
In
the meantime you can get more info here.

Just
a quick note to let you know we took part in the
fishing trip with Arafura Charters on Mon 22/8/05
and it was a great day. We caught a large variety
of different species throughout the day. The weather
was hot (compared to Melbourne!!!) which made
it even more enjoyable for us as we finally escaped
the Melbourne winter chills for a short time.
The
best part of the trip for me was the 15kg Black
Jewfish which I managed to hookup and bring into
the boat, with the help of both crew members on
board. This is the biggest fish I have ever caught
anywhere and it was certainly a memorable catch
for both myself and my husband who just looked
on in astonishment when he actually saw how big
it was. There was also a large number of golden
snapper caught on the day which were also fun
to catch.
Overall,
both my husband and I had a memorable and enjoyable
time on the Terri Tiki boat as did the other passengers
on board. We have no hesitation in recommending
this type of trip to anyone else we know who might
be heading up to Darwin.
We
would like to express our thanks and gratitude
to yourself and to the crew members of the Terri
Tiki boat who looked after everyone on board and
were always ready to help whenever anyone needed
it.
Thankyou
again for helping us to arrange this trip and
making it possible for us to experience a fun
day fishing the offshore reefs of Darwin.
From
Rosa and Ray Micallef
(Very happy fishermen !!!!)

I
traveled all over Australia on this last trip, but
the one day Barra fishing excursion was absolutely
the highlight of the entire trip. Had a good blue
water charter out of Port Douglas, but it didn't
begin to intrigue me as much as the Barra fishing.
Best
regards,

Frank got this great Barra on a day trip to Corroboree
Billabong. He is planning to get back to fish the Run
Off next year.
PS.
Frank is looking for someone to join him fishing the
Run Off 2006.

Dry
Season Fishing Report |
| This
years dry season has been fishing very well, with a
wet season that was well below average rain fall we
were slightly concerned that the fishing may be quiet
but from the billabongs to the blue water the fishing
has been great.
The
Billabongs have been producing Barra around the 70-80cm
mark, and that’s a pretty nice billabong Barra.
It's not uncommon to get around 8-10 Barra to the net
and as always there are a few that throw the lure.

The
guys fishing the blue water have had great season on
Mackerel and the Black Jew & Golden snapper have
also been reliable.
The
Mother ship Island Explorer just got back from a brilliant
charter to the west coast with a group of Malaysian
business men. Spending a couple of days on the Barra
then a few days on the Reefs. Barra to 80 cm, 30lb Black
Jew Fish, Red Emperor, Longtail Tuna were just some
of the species caught, they got a real taste of fishing
Territory Style.
